What is Good Book Club?
Good Book Club is a book subscription that makes it easier for you to read women, gender non-conforming, and queer authors the big mainstream publishers tend to ignore. We send you a book a month in the post – always newly published (as in, you might get it before anyone else), always from an independent publisher, and always loved by us.
Why should I join, and not just buy the book separately?
There are a whole lot of perks when you join Good Book Club:
It’s genuinely good value – for £13 a month including postage, you’ll receive a brand new hand-wrapped book along with our thoughts and reasons for choosing it. The books we send retail at up to £14.99.
Members get free postage on ALL books from our online shop.
We host author events online and in person, which are free for members to join.
We choose books that you might not have heard about without us, introducing you to brilliant and exciting new voices.
Often, you’ll receive a surprise extra with your book – like a handwritten note from the author, or an author explainer video. No random landfill-destined stuff you don’t need or want.
How do you choose the books – and how do I know we share the same taste?
We read, a lot. We spend a lot of time doing research and talking to publishers to find out what’s going to be hitting the shelves ahead of time. When we’re making a decision, we always opt for books that challenge us, open our eyes, or makes us think differently about something. This means that sometimes our books cover harsh or tricky themes, which is something we never shy away from. In our view, it’s easy to find a light beach read, but more difficult to uncover the stories that we don’t often hear about, and we’re here to help you find new voices. When do I get my first book?
We send books out during the last week of each month. If you need your subscription to arrive by a certain date for a gift, please let us know.
I already own this month’s book. What should I do?
Very unlikely, this, because we send books as soon as they are published. But if it does happen, you can pass it on to someone else, and we’ll send you a different book to replace it.
What should I do if book hasn’t arrived?
Please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org if your book doesn’t show up and we’ll dispatch a replacement immediately.
Can I make changes to my subscription?
If you choose a rolling subscription, you can pause or restart this anytime. Simply log in to your membership portal.
What if I want to swap my book for another one?
We unfortunately cannot offer swaps.
What is your refund policy?
We do not offer refunds and we cannot accept returns. If your book arrives in damaged or faulty condition, we will be happy to issue a replacement. If your book is missing, we will offer a replacement.
How do I change my address?
If you need to change your address, just drop us an email to email@example.com and we’ll update our system for you.
What’s the cut off point to subscribe each month?
The cut off date is 20th, so if you order after that, we’ll send you the following month’s book.
Will I need to be at home to receive my book?
Nope, our boxes will slide through your letterbox.
Will I receive tracking information?
We send all our books Royal Mail 2nd Class, so you will not receive tracking info.
Do you ship internationally?
We are looking into this. If you live outside of the UK and are interested in subscribing, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I sign a friend up to Good Book Club as a gift?
Yes, of course – Good Book Club makes a wonderful gift. Head to our Gift Subscriptions page to buy your loved one 3 or 6 months of Good Book Club.

Can I hire out your space for an event, workshop or book club?
Yes, our space is ideal for hosting small, intimate gatherings. Our table comfortably seats 8 people and is available in the evenings and on Sundays. If you’d like to enquire about hiring the space, please email email@example.com.
Do you have an in-person book club?
Yes, we do host an in-person book club, but this is currently full and running a waiting list. If you’d like to experience our recommendations, I’d recommend joining the Good Book Club subscription.
Do you stock children’s books?
Yes, we have a small selection of children’s books that reflect our values.
Can you order a book for me?
Yes, we are always happy to take special orders and can get hold of virtually anything still in print. To place your order, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is there parking near the shop?
There is on-street parking available, although we would encourage you to come by bike, foot or bus wherever possible. There is a bus stop less than a minute from the shop.
