Quick take
Funny, touching and human, Nolwenn Le Blevennec’s latest novel explores growing up, breaking free and the precious, if painful, bonds of female friendship.
Synopsis
Three friends, all exhausted young mothers living in Paris, take a trip to Tunisia to see in the New Year together. By the hotel pool, they relish a rare oasis of freedom, enjoying each other’s company, dreaming of adventure and reliving youthful mistakes (while making new ones). Three years later, the trio meet again, this time on a holiday to a lighthouse on a deserted island off the coast of Brittany. Their bond seems shakier and their dreams more at odds. Tensions simmer and resentments emerge as they question what is left of their friendship, and where it, and they, can go from here.
